Redpanda Cloud Summer 2025: Connect everywhere, Iceberg GA in cloud, and more

GA of Redpanda Connect on all deployment types, Iceberg Topics GA in BYOC, and expanded Serverless capabilities

Redpanda Cloud continues to solidify its position as the most flexible and powerful multi‑cloud streaming platform. Over June and July 2025, we made Redpanda Connect generally available across all product deployment types and supported cloud providers, and added developer tools and serverless enhancements.

Here’s the breakdown:

Redpanda Connect: GA all the things + new components

Redpanda Connect is now GA on every Redpanda Cloud deployment:

  • Serverless
  • Dedicated
  • BYOC

That means customers get production-ready, scalable pipelines no matter where or how you run Redpanda. Create and scale streaming pipelines with full production-proven confidence!

Google Cloud Spanner CDC input

Looking for an alternative to Debezium? We've got you covered! We’re expanding Redpanda Connect’s change data capture (CDC) ecosystem with a new Spanner CDC connector.

Now, you can capture changes from Spanner — Google's groundbreaking relational database service that brought strong consistency to the world of distributed data — and stream them into Redpanda topics, powering downstream analytics, AI pipelines, or syncing into a lakehouse. Try Spanner CDC with our other GCP components for BigQuery, Vertex AI, and more!

Redpanda cache component

This isn't your typical cache! The new cache for Redpanda Connect is optimized to work with write-heavy Redpanda topics.

It's the right tool for specific jobs. While it excels at writes, it will do a full scan for reads. This makes the Redpanda cache an ideal fit in the middle of your pipeline for some light windowed aggregation, deduplication of small batches of messages, or complex event processing over multiple streams. For read-heavy workloads, explore our library of other cache components

Slack reaction output

Want a celebration when an order hits 10,000? Or a warning emoji when server CPU spikes? Send (or remove) emoji reactions in Slack based on streaming events. Check out Redpanda Connect's Slack reaction output, complementing existing components for Slack posts, users, and more.

HTTP gateway input

Specially designed and hardened for Redpanda Cloud, you can now trigger Redpanda Connect pipelines directly via HTTP requests using the gateway input. This gives developers more flexibility to incorporate Web-based APIs into their streaming pipelines. They can:

  • Easily feed data into Redpanda from webhooks, apps, or serverless functions
  • Get low-friction event ingestion without standing up Kafka clients
  • Quickly build lightweight, JSON-based streaming use cases

Pairs well with Redpanda Serverless

Iceberg Topics GA for AWS and GCP BYOC clusters

We’re also announcing the GA of Iceberg Topics for AWS and GCP BYOC clusters.

Iceberg Topics let you write Kafka-compatible streaming data directly into Apache Iceberg tables — combining real-time event streams with open, queryable lakehouse storage. The Redpanda 25.2 release, which powers these updates, brings even more Iceberg capabilities to your real-time lakehouse. This means better data lake integration and easier schema management.

Here's what’s new:

  • Self-service cluster configuration: Enable Iceberg Topics via Redpanda Cloud Public API, including setting up catalog endpoints and access control.
  • Multi-catalog support: Integrate with AWS Glue, Databricks Unity Catalog, and Snowflake Open Catalog.
  • Cluster lifecycle controls: Retain or delete buckets independently from cluster deletion, supporting proper data lifecycle management.
  • Secure secret management: Redpanda Cloud now securely stores Iceberg-related secrets (like catalog credentials) in production.

This capability is especially useful for customers looking to reduce batch processing latency or modernize their lakehouse architecture with real-time data ingestion. Look for support for Iceberg Topics on Azure BYOC clusters coming soon!

Serverless Enhancements: Schema Registry UI, connection controls, 3 new regions

We're continuing to build out Redpanda Serverless with simplicity and control in mind:

  • Schema Registry UI: Visually manage schemas, versions, and compatibility right from the Serverless Console—no CLI required.
  • Client connection limits: Serverless now limits client connections to 10,000 per tenant, ensuring consistent performance and fairness across shared serverless infrastructure. (Higher limits available upon request.)
  • Expanded footprint: We’ve added three new AWS regions for Serverless
    • eu-west-2 (London)‍
    • ap-northeast-1 (Tokyo)
    • ap-southeast-1 (Singapore)

This gives you more options for deployment, keeping data closer to your consumers for reduced latency.

Redpanda BYOC on Azure GA

Redpanda BYOC is now GA on Microsoft Azure. With this update:

  • You can deploy Redpanda BYOC in your own Azure account with full control over networking, storage, and compliance — while enjoying a fully managed service from Redpanda experts.
  • Your cloud resources remain under your billing and governance models, with no hidden markups.
  • You get enterprise flexibility, with BYOVNet and Private Link support, for regulated industries and complex enterprise architectures.

This GA release makes Redpanda BYOC a true multi-cloud solution across AWS, GCP, and now Azure.

Recap: Multi-cloud streaming, more data connectors, and expanded Iceberg support

With new connector and Serverless features, plus BYOC on Azure, Iceberg Topics, and more — Redpanda Cloud now offers:

  • BYOC flexibility on AWS, GCP, and Azure
  • Expanded ecosystem for Redpanda Connect, GA across the big three cloud providers
  • Real-time lakehouse pipelines with Iceberg and several REST catalogs
  • Global Serverless availability with easier schema management

We hope these changes help simplify your event streaming and lakehouse architectures, wherever you choose to run them. As always, happy streaming!
